At 6pm on November 25th 2022, Galeria Belard opened in Lisbon, a new space dedicated to the exhibition of contemporary art with artists who have in common a zeal for execution and a passion for the subject matter and the medium in which they express themselves. With a significant (though not exclusive) emphasis on New Figuration, Belard's curatorial criterion is the selection of works that, in the current context of art history, pursue the artistic instinct to communicate concepts through the mastery of the craft of art.
In the inaugural exhibition 'Prelúdio', the first essay of its vision, Galeria Belard proposes to observe the "peculiar image of Man" according to the period and time of its artists. The exhibited works emerge, both practically and conceptually, as the mark of a current time that nevertheless still poses the traditional artistic question: the expression, both figurative and abstract, of a reality that is, at the same time, the attempt of its representation as much as a personal fiction
This exhibition features pieces by 10 artists, national and international, working in multiple media - painting, sculpture, drawing, and photography; essentially a dialogue of transversal dimension, of personal and human introspection through the artistic medium; the expression of an inquiry on perceived and real stories.
